• Reloader 762, it is a Lee 170 gr FN GC boolit. Haven’t weighed any with this alloy but was getting 173+or – .3 with the WW+sn. And I have plenty of 700x and it is in stock in Gamaliel.

  • Just checked Gamaliel Shooting supply website, out of stock on Red Dot. I wonder if 700x would work for an equivalent load? I guess for now I could use up the last of my Unique. I still want to out shoot my grandson with his 308 using cast instead of j-words. That ought to frost his cheerios,LOL.

  • 18 years as an industrial maintenance mechanic, setting machinery, working on boilers, doing iron work around the plant. Bullpens are pretty handy line up tools for boiler doors.

  • I cast 120 boolits with this alloy yesterday afternoon after I got back from my pain management appointment. Cast at 725* because I had seen a post by Larry Gibson recomending that temp for #2 alloy. Some of the best boolits I have ever cast. Now I see why people like that alloy. Well, anyway I got the results from my MRI and now I find out that…[Read more]

Just a little update. I finally got the new sight filed down to where it needs to be for 4gr of Bullseye and those 170gr LeeFN boolits. I had went down to 3 gr but 4gr seemed to be the best compromise between noise and accuracy. And there a lot of 4 gr loads in a lb, LOL. I wish to thank all of you for the help and getting me to the point of a…[Read more]

While not exactly low velocity I had a lot of fun today. Used 12 grs. Unique under 170 gr gas checked and CR lubed boolit. Did 10 for a test drive and went back and did 50 more. Oh, this was in the 1903 03A3. At 50 yds the bottom BDC reticle was spot on. 5 were dead in the bull, first 2 were at bottom as I figured out how low and the rest of the…[Read more]

  • I would like to give an update, she is doing very well now. She actually elbowed me out of the way and insisted on doing the dishes! It has been a long recovery but God has smiled on us again.
I really appreciate all the prayers and give that most of the credit for her pulling through. Thanks again!

I got lucky today. My grandson came over to shoot and he had been to Cabelas in Bowling Green. He gave me a lb.of Bullseye, said it was for me reloading all that .308 for him,LOL. He has a 10 twist Remington 700 AAC that I worked a great load for the 180SMK he started with but then decided to try 175SMK. 44.6 grs of Win748 seems to work best so…[Read more]

Screwbolts, I measured from the base of the dovetail to the top of the sight and got a measurement of 19/64 using my machinist pocket scale. Thought I would get it done yesterday but ended up answering a boat load of questions for 2 young men (22-24?) who are friends of my grandson. The one who had been over here shooting is the son of a local…[Read more]

Back to subject, if youin can measure the hight of your front sight and tell me how you are measuring it. ( ex, from barrel, from bottom of dovetail. ) I have a good selection of old Remington inserts. If one of my stash is lower than your…

WOW ! You guys are great. Larry, thanks for some great info. And Lar 45 thanks for where to get a shorter front sight. I already need to order a new sear for my grandsons 1911 build so I can combine shipping.

It wasn’t that long ago that 25 yds was the gold standard, and within the last 10 years or so 7 yds has become the norm. It just seems as such a waste of ammunition and trigger time to…

  • I have been practicing drawing from concealed carry and shooting 7 water bottles at 25 yds. I am down to about 3.5 seconds to get them all. Double handed grip on my favorite 1911a1. I figure that equals head shots at any threat I would ever meet at that distance. Can’t quite do that at 50 yds, but still in pretty consistent 4″ group. But if I pull…[Read more]

Thanks Tim, I hadn’t thought of that. My mind has been kind of scrambled lately, if you know what I mean. Any idea where to look for one and a rough price? My budget is about to be sharply curtailed for several months due to non- covered medical co-pays.

I think I may abandon this project. The rifle has a Williams aperture sight and the 7.5 of Unique are hitting so low that I don’t have adjustment room. Wife ran me out of the house for a while today so I loaded up 10 for a quick test drive. It isn’t like I have to worry about noise levels or anything, it just seemed like an interesting project but…[Read more]

  • We are back home ! She is on home oxygen for awhile but at least she is here. She is sleeping a lot. I wish to thank you all for the prayers, they worked well. The doctor said if she had not gone in when she did she probably would not have made it. We have told her that her mule-headedness will not work any more, she is going to the doctor at the…[Read more]

  • She is starting to do a little better now. May be able to go home Monday. She now has heart medicine added to her list. I think they said digoxin but not really sure about that. I just know that I am feeling a lot better,LOL. And again thank you for all the prayers.

  • Many thanks to you all

  • Scared is putting It mildly. After all these years I even imagine being without her. May God grant her a full and speedy recovery .And thank you for you for your prayers

  • I solved my timing problem with a big old clock like we used to have in school with a second hand. Made a stand for it and put it right behind the towel I drop on. Getting much more of a long straight line on the bell curve. Thanks Tim, you have cost me a few dollars to follow your tips but the results are well worth it.
