Now that 22LR is available I find myself shooting more of it than reloads. We have casual 22LR rifle and handgun matches every Friday. I have been using Federal AutoMatch with good results. It is running $0.0615/round shipped to my door. I do shoot a fair amount CF reloads but probably 3:1 22RF vs. CF reloads these days.
I built one. I programmed my CNC mill to do the task. It came out better than my S&W M&P 15. However it did take a several hours to do the design in Mastercam and monkeying around with some tests and engraving. All that was a one time task. I have a nice Mitutoyo 0-1″. There have been occasions where I needed to go beyond 1″ with better accuracy than my calipers. Also, I was being quizzed by the family about I wanted for Christmas. I grew tired of saying that they were all I needed so….
Years ago I bought a Winchester (Miroku) 38-55 for my wife to shoot in competition at our local club. I tried a few molds and of all things the Lee 2 cavity 250 grain gave very good results using 9 grains of Unique. I have a Browning BPCR in 45-70. The RCBS mounds gave me small bullets. I needed .460″. A custom mold (AM461425B) worked out with Tom at Accurate Molds gave me a nice bullet with good accuracy using 29 grains of H4198.
I shot a friends Miroku 52B sporter several weeks ago. Beautiful gun and shoots the cheap Fed automatch into less than an inch at 100 yards. I was hooked and went on a search for one.
