• Thanks for the kind words.

I was searching around to see if anybody had any of the nitty gritty details worked out yet and kept coming across long videos with guys starting with 80 grit sand paper to “smooth” things out!  I worked my way through it with the ALG parts, then took those measurements to the stock Chinese parts and it worked with them also.

  • Hi guys, I just got through with making a video on how to setup a 2 stage trigger for my Mak90. I used a new set of ALG AKT-EL fire control group parts and also went back and did the same for the stock Chinese parts that came with the gun. The ALG parts ended up with a 2.75# trigger pull.

Anyway, here’s a link to the video. Comments are…[Read more]

This is my latest one that I made for Wayne.  The blade is 52100 Bearing Steel with black and orange G-10 scales.  This one is scary sharp.  I’d bet you could do surgery with it.  It will be interesting to see how it holds up this deer season.

The pins are supposed to look like dog paws.

I have ordered some 80crv2.  The reports on it s…[Read more]

  • My absolute favorite bullet of all time is the 165 pspcl in 30-06 loaded to around 2700+.  I have taken somewhere around 13 Elk and I don’t remember how many Mule Deer with this load.  Ranges have been as close as 80 yds and out to around 500ish and most were one shot drops.  My oldest Son has used that bullet/load and has taken more Elk than I ha…[Read more]

Back when my youngest son, Erin, was 12, we were getting some guns ready to go to the range and shoot some clay pigeons. So Erin was eyeballing my Ruger MkII 6 7/8″ Stainless Target 22lr pistol and was talking smack about how he was going to shoot a clay pigeon out of the air with it.  So I told him that if he did then I would buy him a new…[Read more]

Way back when about three lifetimes ago…  I was in my early twenties  and one my very best friends, Dave, and I were out in the Idaho desert hunting for Sage Grouse.

Adult males range in length from 26 to 30 inches and weigh between 4 and 7 pounds, think small turkey, and are absolutely delicious.

We were kicking up dust along a small t…[Read more]

It was a very cold November morning in south east Idaho.  My Son Steven and I were out at the break of dawn hoping for some sign of Elk.  We heard some cow talk off to the right and saw two cow Elk that were atleast 350yds out.  I drew down on the big one with my M98 30-06 loaded with 165gn Corelokts and squeezed the trigger… squeezed a li…[Read more]

    Hello everybody.
The boys and I were talking about wanting to make some knives, so wife got me a propane fired forge for Father’s Day.

The only thing that I had on hand when she gave it to me was a piece of who knows what round bar. So I heated it up, chopped off a piece, got out some hammers, and commenced to pounding. I used a piece of Cedar…[Read more]

  • I wonder if you could do that with Brownell’s Gun Kote.

  • You could always do the  hot finger method.

Hold the base between a finger and a thumb and spin the neck in your propane torch’s flame.  Then when your fingers get hot, drop them in a bucket of water…

I wonder if that would make the nickel more brittle and prone to flaking?

  • Thanks for posting.  What book is that from?

I’ve always read about the duplex and triplex loads, but never saw the data for them.

    2 gn Unique, 25 gn 2400, 3 gn Bullseye for the 230gn @ 2000fps.

I can see starting off with a fast burning powder to act as a bigger primer, but I thought it would be followed by a larger charge of a slower than…[Read more]

Doc44 and I are sitting on about 90,000 pieces of 9mm that I haven’t been able to move yet.  So I guess I’ll have to start loading for the 9mm.   Maybe finish up that Sten project. ..

I just picked up that mold a week ago, but need to process a pile of WW into ingots before I can give it any attention.

I loaded up some lubed with Carnauba Blue and shot the 6.4 gns of Bluedot. I spent a few getting the rear sight tweaked ,but they looked a lot better.  I have an adjustable rear sight on order. I just hope that the dovetail will be close enough to the same size.

My Father in law took a spill and hit his head, so we’re in Kentucky for a few days.

I’m sure you’ve clicked on everything in Quickload, but it looks like you’ll be stuck around 1600-1650-ish without going over 60kpsi.

Well, I set up the chronograph today and shot the “reloads”, some 38 Super and something abit heavier…

The factory reloads with the 127gn FMJ clocked at 1134fps and really didn’t make a group worth even taking a picture of, but did have some high and some low.

The 38 Super with 130gn FMJ clocked at 1161fps and had verticle stringing from point…[Read more]
