I am repairing an old model 2 S&W in .38 caliber. It has a broken hammer spring. Anyone know of a source? I found one place but they will not respond via e-mail.

When you have the spring made, use a piece of pipe as a crucible (I use a 4″ piece of 12 gauge shotgun barrel that I cut off), and blow your torch through the hole on both ends, and around the outside till everything is warm and wriggling at a cherry red color. Plunge the whole mess into water. Carefully clean the slag off the spring and drop it in your lead pot at 800 degrees. Let it set in there for 2 hours. Take it out, polish it up, and use it.
