This is the first time we loaded test loads for this rifle. It is a Remington Model 7 in 7mm-08. My friend wants his son to be able use this to hunt deer with, so we started with these loads. Three different powders (IMR 4895, IMR 4350, and Reloader 19) all with 145 grain Speer Boat Tails. I think we will stick with the Reloader 19!
IMR 4350 / 44.5 Grains / Speer 145 Gr Boat Tails / 5 shots
IMR 4350 / 45.0 Grains / Speer 145 Gr Boat Tails / 5 shots
IMR 4350 / 45.5 Grains / Speer 145 Gr Boat Tails / 5 shots
IMR 4895 / 37.5 Grains / Speer 145 Gr Boat Tails / 5 shots (Top Right was clean bore)
IMR 4895 / 38.0 Grains / Speer 145 Gr Boat Tails / 5 shots
IMR 4895 / 38.5 Grains / Speer 145 Gr Boat Tails / 5 shots
IMR 4895 / 39.0 Grains / Speer 145 Gr Boat Tails / 5 shots
Reloader 19 / 47 Grains / Speer 145 Gr Boat Tails / 5 shots (Bottom Hole was clean bore)

Looks like it really likes RL19. Looks like a keeper for sure.

I agree Glenn. Before we shot the RL19, I was suspecting the 4895 was tightening up and just needed some more powder.

I’d shoot ten shot groups and compare to definitely see a trend. I’ve had loads where it’ll stack three or four, then toss a couple. Get the right bullet and charge and it’ll make consistent round groups, and when you get a round, consistent group, thats far more predictable than one that will stack three then send one out of the group.
