Considering that picture is hosted on a FTP sight, so it was as simple as using a bookmark to get to my folder on that site, then copy/paste, quite well.

I was hoping for an easy to use system for upload from computer to goodsteel something like the cast boolits site uses.

I got into the new forums once, had not been able to get back in. Thanks to the email notification of my post it gave me a good link back.

Needless to say I will be bookmarking.

Great job so far, keep it up.

Ohhh and that funky looking guy on the right is me. My wife cindy in center and my step daughter katie to the left.

Well, the ultimate goal is to be able to post pictures directly from the computer, and that was working really well for a minute there, but we are still working through some basic issues. In the near future, you should be able to post a picture directly.

As I expected. Work in progress. Birthing a new baby tends to be a long, bloody, tiresome process. End results are however often worthwhile.

Hang in there, best of luck. If I can be of service testing just point me at what you want tested.

I’m sure I can find new ways to break things. Grin

A screen shot of a spreadsheet works as a “work around”

Can be edited by user after posting.  Good.

    JRR,

    TEST 1

I attempted to upload a small video clip (22.6MB mp4 format) from my smart phone.

    1) logged in the forum with user credentials

    2) Clicked on photo image icon

    3) Found & saved as target, the test video on my smart phone.

4 Uploaded test video.  (Received error upon saving file in file path.)

    5) Submitted saved video as post on thread.

    6) Received error message:  Error: That action is currently not allowed

    Results: no video posted.

    TEST 2

I copied the same video clip (22.6MB mp4 format) on to my PC and attempted the same process.

    4) Uploaded test video.  (Received error on saved file, same results)

    6) No error message as in file path.

    Results: no video posted.

I was hoping to be more helpful.  I am a web master of my church’s website using WordPress v4.73, a similar web engine to the Goodsteel forum.  Mine differs in that my website has a media upload button, that includes photos, PDFs, videos and perhaps a few others.  As an administrator, I am able to upload videos and photos with out issue, (max size limit = 64MB).

As an user on the Goodsteel forum, I’ve gone as far as I can go and cannot isolate the root cause of videos not posting any further.  I’d imagine this issue is on the web team’s bullet list of enhancements.  I’ll defer to their expertise.

    Charlie

I don’t think we’re at a point we can host videos fellers. I was not aware of the cost associated with hosting video feed, nor the potential server drain and its pretty heavy. However, once the site is fully up and running with all our basic needs taken care of, I will be pointing the design team towards finding a solution for video posting that we all will love. For the moment, videos will have to be hosted by a third party like YouTube, or Photobucket etc etc. Sorry about that.

Just testing from a photo storage site. EDIT: Yep, the forum resizes it. Right click > View Image will get the full size photo.

Randy, your profile picture must be huge! I’ve got to have a limit but I’ve got it set really high. We can handle anything a normal cell phone can dish out without choking, and that’s the main thing I was after. Try sizing that puppy down.

    Tim,

I haven’t been able to upload files(pics) in quite some time.  Mine are JPG’s and about 1.9 MB.  Is that the wrong format or too large a file?

    Thanks,  Jay

Josh, the picture looks nice, but it loads slow. Like 1/8 of a picture per second from top to bottom.

Mike, I don’t know what the problem is. I clicked the picture icon in the upper right corner and Ctrl Ved it into the address bar. Voila!!!

When you are linking to an image the speed at which it loads has very little to do with this server or forum and has everything to do with the server/site that is hosting the image behind the link. In this case, “www.hunt101.com” There site may be limiting the bandwidth to linked images. On this forum, we have the ability to turn off linkbacks and some sites will also use that because they don’t want others using their bandwidth. If this is the case the image won’t load at all.

It can also have to with your internet speed at the time. Most people don’t know this about their internet speed, but you have an [upload speed] and a [download speed]. Internet providers talk a lot about download speed but almost never about the upload speed, and this is because most of the time it is much slower than the download speed. If you are trying to upload a file and it is slow it could also be your internet’s upload speed at the time.
