Anyone one know where I might find some load data for a 6.5 Arisaka that has been chambered for 257 Roberts. None of the books I have list that cartridge. I know that many were sporterized in the past and chambered in 257 Roberts but I can not find anything for jacketed or cast. Any leads?

      Thanks, Jay

      41.5gr IMR4320 and a 125 gr.
      42 gr H414 with a Hornady 129
Could use the 123 in lieu of
      reduce 10% and try it
Ken Waters wrote several work up in his book Pet Loads that I unforuantley don’t have a copy of
Ill look in The Handloaders manual of cartridge conversions might have a load to go off other than the 129/123 family.
Case capacity will be close enough to the x55 swede to start with.

OK IMR 4320 at 32grs for the 140grs bullet Source The Handloaders manual of cartridge conversions ( don’t forget to reduce the LOAD by 10% to 15% and work up)

it list the case capacity as 55.23grs of H2O for the 6.5Roberts.
      the 6.5×55 Swede is 55.04grs of H2O
      the 6.5×57 mauser is 53.73grs of H2O
Which you can see why I said you can use the lower listing of the swede to start with and work off of

Lyman 41st edition has some load data
you will see it listed as 6.5 .257 Jap. page 75

give this a read even though it is about the 6.5x57mm Mauser (which came before the 6.5×257 Roberts) it gives some insight while the cases are NOT interchangeable the start points are really close it the top end that is different.

Thanks Mike. I can at least work up something for jacketed loads. Next comes cast. I realize cast in the Arisakas is a challenge and consequently will be in 6.5 Roberts but still I want to try.

      Thanks again, Jay

As with all this use good sense this data is from the PO Ackley shooters and hand loader manual copyright 1962

Thanks. As with all my load developments I will start with conservative loads and work up. Thanks for info and good advice.

      Jay
