OK, it was only the toaster oven. But, it was putting out smoke like a coal burning engine on the Cumbres & Toltec after it hits the steep grade leaving Antonito. It was entirely my fault. I was not watching things closely while perusing posts here on Goodsteel forum. That sausage went into the trash. After I got the fire out. Danged. I had just cleaned that toaster oven last weekend. Could not tell it now with all of that black soot even on the outside. Just a little on the ceiling. I know I will have to repaint the kitchen when I move out. This ain’t the first episode of heavy smoke in my kitchen. Some of us are just slow learners. Well, also easily distracted. If this website weren’t so good …………

Well, I’ll take your blackened sausage as a compliment!!! Glad you didn’t lose anything but a little pride.

I learned, find a good timer that you can hear. Use it!

Easy to get distracted. A good timer keeps you on target.

You got that right. I have to have the timer near me or I can’t hear it.

I really should get a new toaster oven. The timer on this old one does not work. And, I won’t have to clean Old Smoky!

Tim, have you tried burnt kale greens for blackening metal?

It is relatively easy to do, initial cost of material is low, the end result is long lasting and durable.  LOL!!
