I’m currently in Western Colorado attending to some family business, but I had time to get out and chase some pheasants around. While the hunting is not what it was in my youth, it’s still fun to watch the dogs work ’em.

Good times! The pheasant population is recovering in western KS following several years of drought and bad winters. I hope to bag some when I’m back for Thanksgiving and deer season.

When I was cooking for the company Thanksgiving feast, my boss gave me 3 Pheasants to smoke along with the turkeys. Sad to say that only 2 of the pheasants made it
back to the office for the feast. That was some mighty fine eating.

Thanks for the comments guys. We’re knee deep into pheasant season here in Washington State now and my dog is spot on again this year. I often take wounded warriors from Fort Lewis and my old army buddies out to shoot over my dog and we all have a ball. This last weekend my dog found us eight of the wily birds and given my buddies shooting prowess, they all came home with us.
