I have been working up some loads for the rifle so I can hunt with it this year.
I believe the rifle has a 1:10 twist ,so I have been working with the 180 gr bullets.
Factory Winchester load were horribly inaccurate.
So far I have worked with IMR 4350, N 150, Varget,and Rel 15
With a Hornady spire point 180 gr bullet I have gotten the best accuracy using Varget and Rel 15
Around 40 grains of either powder seem to shoot very good.
If you are working with an old Springfield you may want to reduce the loads by 5 or10%.
Buckhorn sights are a challenge at 100yds, but 2 to 2.5″ groups are possible.
Someone with younger eyes might do better, but that is the best I can do.
This should be a good rifle with cast bullets.

Sounds great! Keep us informed of your ballistic progress and then, the hunt!
