So Dick started something a couple of yr ago and it is now short notice here but here goes ,
I’m hosting, as much as you can host a beach party on a million acres of public beach ,a fun shoot . Just a run what you brung on a 750 yd flat in the desert 4/16 &17 with a rules dinner on the 15th down town . I have a couple of tacky reclaimed silver cups for the big winners ……as soon as I figure out what the games will be and how to split the copper class from the cast…… rules dinner right ? In any event we expect to be just a fun weekend. If there’s even a little bit of attention I’ll post a more firm schedule and directions for dinner ,schedule and of course the flat in the sand.

Sounds like fun but is just a little too short notice and conflicts with the premier gun show I “cannot” miss . Another time ??

I use it as an excuse to shake down the camper in August or early September too. I tried Labor day last year it was pretty much me an Ms popping of some BP. The other shoot is the first weekend in June which I will attend because 8ve made some friends over the years and unless the lottery hits my days at that event are numbered

Nope, didn’t break down. Just travel through that area coming and going from here to Oregon and Washington. Also spent some time at Hawthorne training Marines.

I’d fight a silverback gorilla to be able to attend. I miss Nevada so much that it is palpable. The east coast with all these trees and people is smothering me. 8 more years and I’ll be back!!

(Chuckling ) . Don’t I know it . I’m dreeding the move (because I had a ate moving) to AR but I’ll be closer to the many good folks I’ve friend ed along the way and we will get together even if I have to designate Tim house as a rally point 🙂 , just so we can all find it .

At this point it looks like a pretty small gathering less than 10 I think .

I wish you all the best out there, and please, do not take ranges over 200 yards…and public land for granted, lol.

I’m thinking LA Fiesta down town about 6 pm and orders in about 630 . I had forgotten about the GI payday conflict but I’m srarting a head count so I can make reservations.

I’m planning on camping out on the flat located 6.4 miles north of the stop light at Maine and Williams.
8 am Saturday morning to finish up set up ,tables etc and shooting.until we’re tired of it or the weather turns on us . .
    Sunday the same .
Weather permitting pot luck lunch about noon and start packing up around 3 at some point with enough folks on hand we’ll do a pistol team post cut and possibly a team rifle match .

We had just 4 shooters last year . I have an unconfirmed count of 8 right now . It may be pretty quiet out there .

I will emphasize that to encourage participation this will be a run what ya brung sort of event so if all you have for that Nagant is is 2 spam cans ,that’s cool if you want to show that guy with the 40X that a 800 yd dead buffalo is easy with a hunter grade Hawken by all means ,heck I’ll hold the money for that side match. Just a fun get together to maybe give us a chance to build new bonds swap stories and show off that obscure rifle or pistol .

Might be off topic. Isn’t Fallen, the home of the late Skip Talbot? He truley enjoyed the Shooting games and was a hero of mine. Some consider him to have been the father of the 50BMG sporting games.

As a matter of fact . Yes Fallon was Skips home . I had social occasions with him several times, not because of his shooting but Beaune of his aviation ties . . It’s funny I k ew him as a farm boy and pilot but knew nothing about his love of shooting u.ntili saw his final farewell in the American Rifleman.

In spite of the recent storms the intended site looks to be remaining satisfactory.

Bob will you be joining us ? Will you be solo or accompanied by a companion? Just trying to get an eyeball head count for dinner Friday night.

Thank you for the answers, and the correct spelling of Fallon. 🙂 I never knew his ties to aviation or Farm Boy. No wonder I was drawn to his writing, been flying R/C since 79, we have a 1000 yard range at the family farm.

I wish I could attend this event, have fun,

🙂 we raise crops and milk cows, 🙂 thank you for letting me wonder off subject. I have an article still I believe were Skip and some friends would make annual trips out in your beach and shoot out to 2500+ yards with thier 50 BMGs , they used to paint a big rock white for the target. They were learning what happened when the projectile drops out of supper sonic speed, and enjoying them selves.

A change of venue . The recent rains gave us a 200 300 yd clay skid pad. Soooo.
Ok here goes. You can get there via Cemetary Rd to Indian Lakes Rd, or from 95 you can take Tarzyn Rd east to Indian Lakes Rd and they join about a mile from the site. I went on Google maps and clicked right at the spot and then made a copy.

    <img src="Image: http://i574.photobucket.com/albums/ss189/brucerfrechette/shootmap1_zpsuaxbjc3g.jpg ; (http://s574.photobucket.com/user/brucerfrechette/media/shootmap1_zpsuaxbjc3g.jpg.html)” alt=”” />
Near the bottom is a little window that says 5550-5556 Indian Lakes Rd. If you have the app on a smart phone it should direct you right in from either place. It even gives lat/lons if you want to do it that way. It isn’t all too difficult to find. I plan on setting up there in the morning Friday.

I can be reached by txt or call txt preferred before noon Friday at 775 three one two 0121.

It was very enjoyable. The shooting was a dead heat all day Saturday and Sunday morning. Ammo gets props for cool factor guns with a brace of Krags. There was a brief out break of maturity that turned into a cow patty whacking contest between a 45 Colts 92′ and a 45 ACP High Point carbine. The patty never saw it coming.

Ammo laser ed targets at 70,94 and 260 yd .

We ate entirely too much good chow ,and got way to much sun . We did however determine excellent world solutions and resolve most of the corrections bureau problems while burning a couple of 10 rounds each .

Perfect weather good company cool guns it was a great time.

Looks like fun and nice country to boot. If you do it next year try to get the word out a bit earlier.
