i really like the 444.  i use cast boolits(180-450?gr boolits) with no to little recoil. or if ya wantto, go full bore!!!

i’ve shot at deer the 243, 25-06, 6.5cm, 260 rem, 270, 7x30waters,, 7-08, 7 mauser, 30-30, 30-40 krag, 308, 30-06, 32 win spl, 44 spl, 44 mag, 444 marlin and 45-70(theres some more but i forgot). the 30-30(win m94, post ’64) i have retired. i can’t remember how many deer i shot but i still have the m94(1st gun). the 30-40 krag is handed down to generations. it was my great grandpap, grandpap, dad, late uncle and finally to me. my son hunts with 2 or 3 days and someday it will be his. the 7 mauser has killed oodles of deer. it was my best rifle, but now son #1 has it. its a ’98 mauser with a 20″ douglas premium barrel, timney trigger, fajen fiberglass stock(looks like wood) and a 3-9x swift(when they had a over the counter guarantee).  i bought the action when he was 1 year old. it was always his, but i hunted with it till was 17y.o.  son #2 has a rem m7(18.5″ barrel), timney trigger, bed the barrel anda 3-9x swift(OTC guarantee) .

a 444 marlin tc encore with a 23″ MGM barrel with a Sapphire Laminate high plains gunstock and a 3-9x leupold is the best rifle i have. it isn’t accurate, its not fast but it does do a variety cast boolit well.
