Actually, if you want my opinion on the matter, a light sporter contour IS a bull barrel to a 22lr. There’s no need for a truck axle barrel on a semi-automatic rifle in my opinion, and with an 18″ barrel, even a bolt action bench rifle would make better use of trigger, stock and optics enhancements than a heavy barrel.

That said, the real benefit of a carbon fiber 22 barrel is the fact that they use a liner for the rifling (which is arguably the best rifling made) and just beef it up with carbon fiber. This is exactly why Dan Wesson revolvers were so accurate (no, it had nothing to do with a tensioned barrel). They used liners for their rifling, and the precision was obvious.

So, back to the carbon barrel, did you want to make one yourself, or buy one?
